Five year old Lewis was born with a congenital heart defect. He has a double inlet left ventricle with absent AV valve, transposition of the great arteries, he has two holes plus mitral stenosis. During his short life he has undergone many operations some lasting as long as eight hours in the operation theatre. These operations are a means to keep Lewis alive as his heart cannot be repaired and eventually he will require a heart transplant.
Recently Lewis underwent another long difficult operation called a Fontan which sparked his grandmother to submit a wish application on his behalf. The Trustees of Bravehearts Children’s Trust decided to grant Lewis’ wish and he with his parents and brothers recently went on an all expenses paid trip to Disneyland Paris.
