Funded entirely by SQ Foundation, building work on the Sai health clinic in Puttaparthi began in April 2010 and was completed in November 2010. Since then the clinic has been providing very low cost or free medical care to local people.
The clinic covers a wider range of care for all ages, including dental work, orthopaedics, gynaecology and cardiology. It also provides education on basic health needs to help with disease prevention amongst poorer families. Without the clinic, many people would be unable to afford medical treatment or would have to travel considerable distances to get the treatment they need.
The services provided have been in great demand and there are still many more people requiring treatment than the clinic currently has the resources to meet. Additional funding will enable the clinic to expand its service provision and continue to pay for the expenses needed to provide the best possible care for those most in need.
