In 2010, the SQ Foundation was approached by a local doctor regarding a clear need for local and inexpensive health services to help the poor in the many disadvantaged rural communities around Puttaparthi. The people who lived there had limited access to health care, due to poverty and the locality. Visits to doctors were both costly and physically challenging due to the geography of the region.
Funded entirely by SQ Foundation, the clinic was completed in November 2010. Since then it has been providing very low cost or free medical care to local people. The clinic covers a wide range of care for all ages, including dental work, orthopedics, gynecology and cardiology. It also provides education on basic health needs to help with disease prevention. Without the clinic, many people would be unable to afford medical treatment or would have to travel considerable distances to get the treatment they need.
The services provided by the Sri Sai Poly Pulse Health Clinic continue to be in great demand and provide vital health care to those who would otherwise not be able to afford it. It has a huge impact on both the physical and emotional well-being of the whole community by providing reassurance to families and curbing further spread of disease.
